General Anesthesia

If you are having IV Sedation or General Anesthesia you must follow these instructions:


  1. No food or drink, including water, may be taken for 8 hours prior to surgery.
  2. You MUST have someone drive you to the office and STAY during your treatment.
  3. It is MANDATORY to have someone at home to care for you on the day of surgery for a minimum of 4 hours.
  4. Do not drive for at least 24 hours after surgery or at any time while taking prescribed pain medication.
  5. Brush your teeth before reporting to the office for surgery.
  6. Any patient under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  7. Wear a short sleeved garment that is loose fitting around the arms and neck and tennis shoes or “tie” type of shoes. No sandals or heels.
  8. Please remove contact lenses before coming to the office for surgery.
  9. Remove bracelets, watches, large earrings and facial piercings before surgery.
  10. If you have asthma and use an inhaler, please bring it with you on the day of surgery and follow any pre-operative instructions given by the doctor and staff.
  11. Have on hand the day of surgery some clear soup broth, soft foods, ibuprofen, and ice packs.
